Reserved Character Restrictions

Site, Module, Chapter, and Page titles cannot contain “reserved” characters – i.e. it cannot contain characters that are not supported by the Windows File Management System’s naming conventions.

Additionally, many of these characters also hold special meaning for the search engine. Characters such as ?, |, and * found in a page title could cause the browser to throw script errors when processing a search results that contains titles with any of the characters.

Please avoid using the following characters in you Site, Module, Chapter, and Page titles:

  • < (less than)
  • > (greater than)
  • : (colon)
  • ” (double quote)
  • / (forward slash)
  • \ (backslash)
  • | (vertical bar or pipe)
  • ? (question mark)
  • * (asterisk)
