General Overview
Ondexx uses two separate, linked search systems: the Search-As-You-Type Search Bar and the Guided Search Page.
The Search by Label page can also be used to view all pages with a certain Label. Visit this article for more details on Searching by Label.
Search-As-You-Type Search Bar
The Search-As-You-Type Search Bar is a find-as-you-type search shown at the top of all Ondexx pages.
Typing in a query will show a dropdown with matching results. Pressing Enter will show all results on the Guided Search page.
When offscreen, you can open the Search Bar in in an overlay with the Search in Site button at the top right of the screen. You can also open this overlay by pressing / .
Search Bar Options
By changing the Options of the Search Bar, you can more effectively narrow your results to find what you are looking for. These settings will not effect the Guided Search page.
The following options can be accessed using the down arrow dropdown to the right of the Search Bar:
- Scope
- Title includes Page Titles in shown search results.
- Keyword includes Page Keywords in shown search results.
- Description includes Page Descriptions in shown search results.
- Attachments includes the file names of any Page Attachments in shown search results, if the Page Attachments workflow is enabled.
- Full-Text includes full text of Pages, Component Titles, and Module, Chapter, and Home Page listing content in shown search results.
- Query Type
- Broad Match queries will return results that fully or partially match any of search terms in any order. For example, searching for
quick foxwould match the contentquick brown fox, and alsoVisual FoxPro used to be a quick database.
- Exact Match queries will return results that fully or partially match all of search terms in the exact order as entered. For example, searching for
quick foxwould not match the contentquick brown foxbut searching forqu b fwould matchquick brown fox.
- Broad Match queries will return results that fully or partially match any of search terms in any order. For example, searching for

Filtering Searches with the Search Bar
Using Filters, you can further narrow your search results to find what you need. Filters include a variety of Page Properties and Attributes. Properties are internal to Ondexx, such as Module, Chapter, Title, Date Published, etc
Filters can be accessed by clicking the Filters to the left of the Search Bar, and selected from the dropdown that appears.

Guided Search
The Guided Search page shows all results for a query, and can be accessed by entering a search query to the Search Bar, and pressing Enter or the Magnifying Glass icon.
The Guided Search is used by entering a query at the top of the page, and pressing Enter or the “Search” button. Your results will appear below.
Adjusting Guided Search Scope
The Scope of your search determines where the Search Engine will look for your results:
- Title includes Page Titles in shown search results.
- Keyword includes Page Keywords in shown search results.
- Description includes Page Descriptions in shown search results.
- Attachments includes the file names of any Page Attachments in shown search results, if the Page Attachments workflow is enabled.
- Full-Text includes full text of Pages, Component Titles, and Module, Chapter, and Home Page listing content in shown search results.
Search Scope can be adjusted in the Scope of Search box on the left side of the page. Simply check any area you would like included in the search.
Filtering Searches with the Guided Search Page
Using Filters, you can further narrow your search results to find what you need. Filters include a variety of Page Properties and Attributes. Properties are internal to Ondexx, such as Module, Chapter, Title, Date Published, etc
Filters are contained in collapsable boxes on the left of the page. Clicking on the box will show the filter within.

Search by Label
The Search by Label page can be used to easily view all pages with certain labels. This can be accessed by the Label button beside the Typeahead Search bar.

To use the Label Search bar…
- Select your Filter Behavior (any selected labels or every selected label)
- Select the Labels you wish to view on the right or from the search bar dropdown.
- Add or remove labels as desired from the search bar.
- Pages with the selected label(s) will be shown below.
