How to use Chapter Display Options

Background

Chapters have various Display Options to sort their contained pages to make them easier to navigate. These are customized individually by users, but some display options can be set by default.

Label display options

Show Labels toggles the display of labels for each page in the chapter. Labels can help to further categorize pages beyond their location in the site structure. This setting will be apply across all chapters, and can be changed at any time

Group by Labels will group pages with the same labels together in the chapter list. This allows like pages to be logically grouped together, adding an additional level of categorization. This setting will apply to specific chapters.

Example of grouping a Chapter Listing by Label(s)

For additional information about Labels, please refer to this article: Labels Overview

Filtering options

The three chapter filters can be used to narrow down the pages that are shown in a chapter, based on specified criteria:

  • Page Type filters allows users to filter on the type of content in pages in the chapter (i.e. E-Learning Courses, Document Viewer filetypes, etc.)
  • Labels allows users to filter on the editor-created labels that are applied to pages in the chapter
  • Status allows editors to filter on the Page Lifecycle workflow status of pages in the chapter

Configuring default display options

Certain default display options can be selected for specific chapters by Editors.

The Default Grouping can be set, turning on “Group by Label” setting by default for viewers of the chapter.

The Sort Order determines how pages in the chapter will be initially sorted:

  • Alphabetically
  • Oldest to Newest
  • Newest to Oldest
