How to Remove Pages or Delete Drafts

Overview

Ondexx pages and page drafts can be retired or deleted by users with the appropriate rights. Pages removed in this way will be removed from the Ondexx structure, and made inaccessible by most users. However, these pages will not be deleted permanently.

Removed pages and deleted unpublished drafts will still be accessible in the site in the Retired Versions and Deleted Drafts reports, and can be restored from them at any time.

Removing Published Pages

Users with the Remove Pages right have the ability to Request Removal of a published page. This can be done with the Remove Page button, found in the page that needs to be removed. This will submit the page for removal, placing it into the Approval Queue.

Only published pages that are not currently in the Page Lifecycle Workflow can be submitted for removal. Pages that have an unpublished draft, or are submitted for approval cannot be removed until the draft is approved, or deleted.

While a page is submitted for removal, it cannot be edited until the request is addressed.

A user with the Approve Pages right can approve or decline the change request from the page itself, or the Approval Queue menu.

If the request is approved, the option is available to schedule a specific date and time for it to be removed automatically. Otherwise, the page will be immediately removed from the site structure, and archived as a retired page.

If the request is declined, the request will be removed, and it will be possible to edit the page again.

Deleting Drafts

Drafts can be deleted by any user with the Edit Pages right. This removes the draft from the page, and deletes its contents. This action cannot be taken if a page is in the Approval Queue step of the page lifecycle.

This is done with the Delete Draft button in the SAVE menu. A confirmation will be prompted, and then the draft will be removed. This action does not require approval.

If the deleted draft was an unpublished new page, it will be archived in the Deleted Drafts Report. If the deleted draft was not an unpublished new page, it will be deleted permanently.

Retired Versions and Deleted Drafts Reports

The Retired Versions and Deleted Drafts reports allow users with the View Audit of Retired Pages right, to review pages that have been removed from the site. These pages can also be restored to

The Retired Versions report lists all published pages that have been removed from the Site, while the Deleted Drafts report lists all unpublished drafts that have been deleted. Aside from this distinction, the reports function exactly the same way.
